Tall trees require really deep roots, so redwood trees would naturally have the deepest roots to handle high winds and fierce storms, right? Amazingly, no! I was stunned to hear on a tour of the Muir Woods redwood stand in California that the roots of the huge trees go just 6 feet below the ground! Anchored by entwining their roots with their fellow trees, together they rise to incredible 200′ heights! What an amazing Creator!
And what a picture God reveals of the mutual support among humans to hold and lift each other up in hard times, especially among cancer fighters, caretakers and survivors who bond so instantly and passionately! In ten years of supporting thousands of folks through Stronghold Ministry, I’ve felt my limitations to support so many. More and more, we’ve been committed to connect people who are fighting cancer with each other! So we want to make sure you know about connection points with a network of praying people through Stronghold Ministry.

A second connection point we’ve launched earlier this year is an online prayer and support group on Facebook. It’s called Stronghold Ministry Healing Prayer Group, and it’s focused on connecting praying people with Our Great Physician and one another. We would love for you to join here. The beauty of this group is the entwined root support system, people asking for prayer and praying for and lifting up others!
You may have noticed that it had been a while since we published one of these In His Grip newsletters! The reason is this summer has been a whirlwind of boxes and belongings as we’ve moved to a bigger home for Fornears & Stronghold Ministry after outgrowing our previous home office. We’re very excited for this answered prayer and fulfillment of our 10-year-old “Abiding Place” vision! For 10 years, we’ve been searching for a place to gather more individuals and groups to lead them deeper into the fullness of the love and salvation of Jesus Christ! We’ve found it now, and hope to accomplish our vision through more prayer groups, cancer and step support groups, LIFE coaching, and seminars and retreats.
