How to Regain Your Footing When Cancer Rocks Your World

Are you overwhelmed by a cancer fight or some other trial? Consider 4 lessons to truly LIVE (acronym rhymes with give) and regain your footing when cancer rocks your world. These lessons come from my own cancer battle and years of cancer ministry with Stronghold Ministry. Like King David when his foot was slipping, I have found our God to be a Stronghold, Rock, and Refuge! (Psalm 95:18-22).

1) Look around, many have the same hurdles! Self-pity is not your friend. It only makes things worse. Many suffer the same struggles and some worse. Regain your footing by giving and receiving human support from fellow sufferers, join our Stronghold Ministry Healing Prayer Group on Facebook. 1 Peter 5:9-10 – “But resist him (the devil), firm in your faith, knowing the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren in the world.”

2) Invest in your mind and spirit! Pain creates a vacuum to process why this is happening. So like David in the Psalms, and Paul in the New Testament, feed God’s truth and love to the vacuum. Psalm 94:18-19 – If I should say, “My foot has slipped,” Your lovingkindness, O LORD, will hold me up. When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.”

3) Victory is from God! – Fighting cancer is not a DIY or Do-It-Yourself endeavor, so let’s stop striving and lean 100% on Him. 1 Corinthians 15:57 – “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

4) Embrace your weakness! – When you are weak, He is strong! We’re not saying to surrender to the disease, but surrender to the One Who knows best how to fight. Don’t fight Him, He’s your greatest ally! 2 Corinthians 12:9 – “And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’”

God is our Stronghold when we’re too weak to hold on!
