The book of Job was huge for me during my Stage IV cancer battle. I hope the following nuggets will inspire some folks to soak a while in the book, even if you have before. Like Job, we can discover the amazing outcome of enduring through suffering, which is experiencing the fullness of the goodness of God.
In James 5:11, the Lord reveals the most important reason to soak up the book of Job;
“You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and merciful.”
Bingo! Endurance in suffering leads to the experience of the goodness of God that He overflows with compassion and mercy! Don’t quit before you capture the Grand Prize! In the end God doubled the material things He had taken from Job, but James doesn’t even mention that!
The goal of suffering and life is to experience God Himself, not His stuff. He Himself is the fullness of joy! For more go here to walk with us through Job.
