He’s NOT Hiding, Keep Seeking Him TODAY!

Jesus often talked about perseverance in seeking Him to lift our burdens and cares. He uses the analogy that we should persist in knocking on His door:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7The beautiful thing is that He’s not hiding –
He’s standing at the same door,
and He’s knocking and waiting for us too!

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.” – Revelation 3:20

In this verse, Jesus is speaking to the Laodicean church, a distracted church which allowed financial success to make them complacent and self-satisfied. They were trying to derive “abundant life” from the world. So Jesus pursued them, knocking on their doors. You see, even when we struggle with indifference, numbness, anger at Him, or even flat-out rebellion, He’s still waiting and calling for us to open up to Him.

Sometimes, understandably, our prayers are full of doubt because of discouragement. Once the disciples had a prayer meeting fervently seeking God to free Peter from prison (Acts 12:5-19). James, another of their leaders, had just been martyred after a short imprisonment. But this time their prayers were miraculously answered! An angel came and released Peter, who left the prison and knocked on the door of the prayer meeting. A servant girl recognized Peter’s voice, but in her excitement forgot to unlock the door. She ran to tell everyone. The disciples did not believe her – they said she was “out of her mind,” or perhaps that it was Peter’s angel. In the same way, we may doubt the Lord is truly at our door, and that He is willing to be with us, hear us … feed us. He insists, however, He wants to “dine” with us!

Obviously the Lord doesn’t always answer in the way we hope. Yet He still does miracles today! I received a miraculous healing from what my doctor believed to be a terminal case of Stage IV metastatic melanoma. Still, even when God doesn’t answer in our Plan A way, He guarantees to provide whatever we need to weather the harshest storms of life.

Maybe you need to open the door to Him for the first time in your life. We invite you to read how to receive Him into your life – go here!
